MY TRIP TO ABU DHABI WAS FOR AN INITIATIVE FOR WIDOWS IN AFGHANISTAN DEVELOPED BY FATEMA BINT MOHAMMED BIN ZAYED. THE INITIATIVE IS TO GIVE THESE AFGHANI WOMEN A BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY TO ENABLE THEM TO BE INDEPENDENT, HAVE MEDICAL CARE FOR THEIR FAMILIES, AND AN EDUCATION FOR THEIR CHILDREN.

OUR GOAL FOR THIS PROJECT is TO REACH AS MANY WOMEN AS POSSIBLE TO SUPPORT THIS UNSPEAKABLY DEPRESSED UNDERCLASS; AND AFGHANI WOMEN ARE LINING UP FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY IN INCREASING NUMBERS.

THE AFGHANI WOMEN PARTICIPATING IN THIS PROJECT CREATE HANDCRAFTED CARPETS AND PROCEEDS OF SALES HELP SUPPORT THEIR LIVELIHOOD. WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THIS PROJECT, I OFFERED TO VOLUNTEER MY SERVICES TO TAKE THE CARPET CONCEPT INTO MARKETABLE PRODUCTS THAT COULD REACH AND INSPIRE WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD TO SUPPORT THE AFGHANI WOMEN THROUGH PURCHASING THE PRODUCTS..

THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK ON THIS PROJECT IS SO GRATIFYING ESPECIALLY KNOWING THE STATUS AND PLACE OF A WOMAN IN AFGHANISTAN IS LOWER THAN ALL LIVING BEINGS.

PLEASE STAY TUNED SO I CAN SHARE THE PROGRESS OF THIS PROJECT. I HOPE YOU WILL ALL LOVE THE COLLECTION ENOUGH TO CONSIDER MAKING THIS SOMETHING YOU CAN SHARE IN AS WELL.
